365 Days Of Photography: Day 2

Images for January the second

Eyes

Second day of this 365 days of photography project and I found myself photographing more graffiti. It is a Sunday and the streets are not so busy so human subjects are not so plentiful.

The Eyes Have It?

I’ve noticed I feel far more hesitant about pointing the camera at people in the streets than I did back in 2015. Its always better if you can strike up a conversation with a potential subject. Get them on board with having their picture taken. Some people are almost phobic about photographs of themselves. People might have good reasons not to be a subject. If anyone requests I delete an image of them always comply with their wish. However I feel that since the start of the pandemic things have changed. Its not something I can quite define, it maybe that I’m out of practice and I’ll get more confident as the project evolves. We’ll see.

I was struck by the power of this image on a wall just around the corner from where I live in Bristol. Eyes always have a strong attraction and the and this painting certainly captures that. The colours are also vibrant. I wonder what this person might be looking at?

Waiting

Waiting at a bus stop

The weather here today has been showers and bursts of sunshine which gives the pavements in the centre of Bristol a lovely reflective surface. I really liked the colours that the light brought out at what can be a very grey cold time of year. I also liked the way the panels of the bus stop are framing the woman waiting for a bus.

Mural on Junction Of City Road And Stokes Croft

This mural has been on the end wall of the building for many years now. It had faded badly but the artist or artists have been back and refreshed it. As it is so high up it has not suffered from being tagged which happens to most street art. I don’t know who painted it or if it has a title so if anyone reading this blog knows please drop me a comment and let me know.

Okay that’s day two done fingers crossed I get to the 31st of December 2022.
