Dried Hellebore

Rainy cold day outside so what to use as a subject for week 9 more random images of urban life. (Yes I know that sentence is a bit clunky but the web being what it is I have to include the title of the page in the first sentence, so there you go).

So back to subject matter. I was looking around and found the dried husk of a hellebore flower and decided to give it a go.

With some jiggery porkery in affinity photo and light room this hazy romantic image emerged.

A wheel

I don’t know why abandoned objects in the street attract my attention they do and this bicycle wheel was no exception. I think it is the feeling of loss or being lost that this wheel evokes. It is padlocked to the railings so maybe that means its owner might return to claim it.

Ukrainian Flag

What can I say about this small act of defiance on the pavement. Putin’s invasion of this nation is a gross act of violation of its people and their culture. We must stand against him and people like him. Kicking out our current government would be a good first step. Kicking out Putin’s friends from the city of London would be a good step too. However with the likes of Johnson and his cabinet in power I don’t have much hope.

Abstract #50

Or number 500 not sure what number I’ve reached with abstract photography. Anyways here is a composition using some household objects and a little manipulation. I like the rhythm the diagonals criss crossing makes.

However I’m not going to reveal the source of the image.

Fire In Winter

The weather is still grey and miserable so finding these flowers in the garden was relief. I decided to use a bit of ICM (Intentional Camera Movement). With a bit of work I arrived at this fiery photograph.

DJ Derek

Living where we do in Bristol we often would see DJ Derek with his record case. He’d either be going to or coming from the Star And Garter.

A seeming fixture in the city it was a shock when his body was discovered on scrub land near The Mall. Now murals of him are popping up around the city. I’ve walked past this one many times but there has always been a car parked in front of it. This time I got a clear shot.

Hope you enjoy week nine’s images.
