Digital abstracts. Photographs from road markings, architecture and found objects.
Although photography is often associated with making an accurate record of events or people the practice of making abstract photographs goes right back to the early days of the discipline. I look for the way light plays on surfaces or passes through objects making patterns of shadows. Often it is something that is seen in the moment around the home. This has become especially so with Covid and successive lock downs, what can be found in the home and garden to make images from is an interesting challenge.
I use different approaches sometimes using intentional camera moves (ICM) other time I utilize macro lenses, bellows and extension tubes to get in really close to the subject. This process strips away the every day often revealing surprising images.
