Blue Buildings
Today for 365 days of photography I went for a lengthy walk around the city and took in a few favorite sites. This one is the back of Bristol University’s Life Sciences block. I was using a manual lens from the 1970’s. I shoot on Pentax cameras and Pentax have not changed their lens mount since around 1972. This means that there is a wealth of old lenses that are available at very low prices.
Of course with a vintage lens of that era there is no auto focus. However everything was pretty well manual when I started with photography. I feel that working the camera and lens in manual mode is good for the photographer’s soul. It slows you down and makes you think more about how to take a shot.
Squid Lamps ( 365 days of photography )
It always amazes me how creative people are. These lamps hang by the doorway of a house on Nine Tree Hill. A notice says if you knock on the door you can buy a lamp. The bright colours and squiddy shapes make me smile.
Lost Shoes ( 365 days of photography )
A lot of the images I take are about the traces a person leaves in the world. When I see a single shoe or glove or in this case a pair of shoes I wonder what is the story behind them? This pair are neatly placed in the street as if someone is going to step into them again.
